PTI strives to ensure that practicing structural engineers are
familiar with and capable of designing post-tensioned structures and that architects are familiar with the advantages of post-tensioning. Field staff including construction management personnel and inspectors should be familiar with the requirements for quality PT construction. With these goals in mind, the following education programs have been developed:
PTI offers training and certification workshops for field
personnel shown to comply with requirements of IBC, ACI 318, and ACI 301. Proper training and education of personnel involved in post-tensioning (PT) field operations—installers, inspectors, engineers, and others—are vital to ensuring the performance, serviceability, durability, and safety of PT concrete construction. In addition to programs for practicing professionals, PTI is committed to the education of future engineers through the following programs:
PTI offers on-demand webinars that address key aspects of
post-tensioning design, construction, repair, and inspection. These
modules can be viewed at your convenience. A quiz is administered at the end of the video for PDH credit.
The Spring PTI Convention is a 4-day event dedicated entirely
to post-tensioning which includes technical sessions, committee meetings, networking events, and an industry trade show.
PTI's Education Committee has developed a prototype course
curriculum that may be used as is or adapted to teach post-tensioning concepts to engineering and architecture students. The course materials include Power Point presentations.
