PTI Certification for Field Personnel is valid for 4 (four) years and can be renewed every 4 (four) years as outlined in the following provisions.
First renewal after initial certification (in 4 years):
-
- Register with PTI
- Online renewal exam
- Request for renewal must be obtained by PTI within 3 months before (for renewal) and 3 months after (for reinstatement) the certification expiration date that is shown on the certification card. NO Exceptions will be granted for late renewals. 1, 2 Early renewal might be acceptable under some circumstances.
Future renewals (8, 12, 16, etc. years):
-
- Register with PTI
- Online renewal exam
- Level 2 only: Continuing field work experience (25% of the initial requirements obtained during the past 4 years). If continuing field work experience is not provided, Level 1 certification will be issued. Attendance of another certification workshop and the appropriate field work experience will be required to return to Level 2 certification.
Renewal Policy Notes:
- If the certification renewal is not requested within the specified period of time, the renewal is no longer available. Refunds are not available once renewal request is issued. An attendance of another certification workshop will be necessary to get certified again.
- Certification no longer shows on the online database (www.post-tensioning.org/verify) after certification expires. However, you may renew here for up to 3 months past the expiration date.
- If continuing field work experience is not provided within the 4-year initial certification period, a Level 1 certification will be issued. Attendance of another certification workshop and the appropriate field work experience will be required to return to Level 2 certification.
- You have two attempts on the renewal exam within 30 days of the email exam invite. If you fail to complete the exam within the 30 days, you may be eligible to re-purchase the online examination if you are still inside the 3-month grace period. If you fail your second attempt, you must attend another certification workshop and pass the written exam to become certified with PTI again.
- Upon receiving the renewal exam link, you have 30 days to complete the exam, even if the exam and/or link are not opened. There are NO REFUNDS for links that are unused or exams that were not completed in the 30-day timespan.
- If you attempt to renew a Level 2 certification, you have two attempts to achieve an 80% on the renewal exam. If you score between 70 - 79% on the Level 2 renewal exam (for renewals with a 70% minimum score on Level 1 renewal only), you will receive Level 1 certification. To achieve Level 2 certification, you must then attend another certification workshop and pass the written exam to become certified with PTI again.
