FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) is pleased to announce its executive director, Anthony (Tony) Johnson has received the highest-level honor from the Greater Michigan Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACIGMC).
The Arthur Y. Moy Memorial Award is only presented when the Chapter deems one of its members truly worthy of the prestigious award. In fact, when Johnson received the honor on Dec. 7, 2019, he was the first Chapter member to be recognized with the award since 2015. The award recognizes outstanding service in the field of concrete technology. The 2019 Moy Award was presented to Johnson for his years of service to the Chapter, particularly as a 15+ year Board member, for his service on ACI Technical Committees, and for his many years of promoting concrete construction both in Michigan and thought the midwest.
“The current success of the Chapter is due largely to direction from Tony and his extraordinary methods which allowed him to complete the tasks of what is now divided between five (plus) people,” said ACI Greater Michigan Chapter President Christopher Carnacchi. “The National ACI organization held two Concrete Conventions in Detroit during the time Tony sat on the board, each baring success because of his hard work and scrutiny for excellence. It does not take much time of being around Tony before you realize how hard he works, strives for greatness, all while staying completely organized along the way.”
The Moy Award was presented to Johnson at its 2019 Annual Meeting, which was held at the historic Ford Piquette Plant in Detroit, Mich. and attended by more than 70 Chapter members and their guests. GMCACI members include professionals who represent all facets of the local Detroit area in concrete design, construction, and testing.
